XFL 3.0 is all kicked off and already there are some major talking points.
We picked four of the wildest stories from XFL 3.0.
1. Sacked! XFL quarterback released for allegedly sharing plays but is reinstated the same day
The Orlando Guardians are having a rough start to the season, getting trounced and losing some close games. Nothing compares to the situation their quarterback Quinten Dormady has faced.
According to Fox News, he was accused of sharing the team’s plays … with the opposing team. During a game. Fox details that Dormady was released for this alleged offense but then later reinstated on the same day.
2. The iconic “beer snake” fan tradition is banned, but, yep, you guessed it, reinstated again
XFL 2.0 gave birth to the iconic fan tradition of the “beer snake”.
What is the beer snake I hear you ask? Pretty simple – fans stack empty plastic beer cups so that it becomes a snake-like body and also weirdly looks reptilian in its movements.
Yet security in the first DC Defenders game took away the fans’ beer snake, causing them to throw lemons on the field in protest. And people call the NFL the no-fun league?
The XFL is different.

Yet, sense appears to have reigned since this with the Defenders creating, incredibly, a “beer snake code of conduct”. A key tenet of the code includes the rule that “only empty cups can be added to the beer snake”.
3. Massive brawl sees players ejected. What is this, the WWE?
We’ve covered the first XFL in detail here in the past and much of XFL 1.0 was centered on creating an aura of on-field violence (which in reality didn’t happen, players were just seriously injured because of a lack of focus on player safety).
Well, XFL 3.0 has already included some wild on-field violence between the DC Defenders and St. Louis BattleHawks.
Three players were ejected from the game including Francis Bernard and Rod Taylor (both DC Defenders) and Brian Hill (St. Louis BattleHawks).
4. A coach utterly torches his team during the game, saying he needs “different guys”
For the poor Orlando Guardians, it only gets worse. Coach Terrell Buckley blasted his team during an ongoing game when speaking to an ESPN reporter.
“We’ve got to get different guys in. I’ve got guys out there that are not competing and not making plays. Look at the scoreboard!”
